Corrections is changing — but not fast enough.   Across the country, facilities are struggling with burnout, instability, trauma, and outdated leadership models that no longer match the realities of modern corrections. SCIR exists to bridge that gap by combining lived experience, somatic science, and evidence‑based leadership into a clear, trauma‑responsive framework that helps staff think clearly, act decisively, and stay regulated under pressure.

A New Perspective for a System Ready for Change

The SCIR Group brings clarity, accountability, and lived‑experience insight to modern correctional transformation.

Who We Serve

SCIR supports agencies and organizations across the correctional spectrum, including:

  • correctional facilities (jails, prisons, detention centers)
  • probation & parole departments
  • reentry and rehabilitation programs
  • community‑based justice organizations
  • leaders seeking trauma‑responsive operational clarity

If your mission involves safety, stability, or human‑centered correctional environments, SCIR is built for you.

Redefining What’s Possible in Modern Corrections

The SCIR GROUP LLC was developed to elevate correctional systems by blending operational insight, trauma‑responsive leadership, and somatic‑based regulation, with an evidence‑driven consulting framework tailored to the demands of today’s facilities.

Founded by Dr. Garrett James, a pioneer in Somatic Institutional Reform — a developing approach that integrates nervous‑system science into correctional leadership and operations.

What Makes SCIR Different

SCIR blends three elements rarely found in the same place:

  • Lived Experience — insight from someone who has been incarcerated, served as an officer, and now leads in correctional reform.
  • Somatic Science — regulation‑based practices that strengthen clarity, communication, and decision‑making.
  • Evidence‑Driven Leadership — research‑aligned frameworks that improve culture, operations, and staff wellness.

This combination allows SCIR to speak the language of both staff and system‑impacted individuals — a bridge few organizations can authentically offer.
